Ines Valcourt
Painter, born 1984 in Porto. She works with five pigments only and leaves the canvas edge bare. Every painting in this hall is hers.
She draws her shapes from the city she grew up in: tiled walls, river poles, the Atlantic horizon. Each one is reduced to a single decision, in ultramarine, cadmium yellow, rose madder, vermilion or ivory black. The bare canvas edge shows where the painting stopped.
